Maa Cynthia of Daughters of Glorious Jesus recounts her near-death experience on a capsized canoe on the Black Volta River
Ghanaian Gospel singer Cynthia Appiadu, known as Maa Cynthia has shared her shocking story about a canoe accident on the Black Volta River while returning from evangelism.
During the “Victory In His Presence” event in Kumasi on June 2nd, 2024, hosted by VOV Family Entertainment, Maa Cynthia recounted the incident.
It occurred in 1996 in Ghana’s Northern Region while she was with Bishop Akwasi Asare Bediako, the General Overseer of Power and Living Bread Ministries.
She explained that their canoe, carrying eight people, capsized unexpectedly, and although others were rescued, she found herself struggling in the water. Despite nearly drowning five times, she prayed for God’s intervention, and miraculously, she was saved.
This divine intervention astonished everyone, including the king, who was curious about her source of strength. Inspired by the experience, Maa Cynthia birthed the song “ONOKWAFO ONYAME” by Daughters Of Glorious Jesus.
A netizen commented on God’s faithfulness and deliverance, affirming the importance of serving diligently.
Maa Cynthia used her story to urge the congregation to seek Jesus for protection, creating an emotional moment as she sang the song at the event.
