‘I did not write Money Declaration song to make unbelievers suddenly become wealthy’ – Dr Sonnie Badu

Ghanaian US-based musician and pastor, Dr. Sonnie Badu, has responded to criticism surrounding his latest song, “Money Declaration,” which was released on July 14th, 2024. The song has garnered mixed reactions, especially among believers.

Speaking on The Dennis Bentil Show, Dr. Badu, who also serves as the lead pastor of RockHill Church in Atlanta, Georgia, shared his thoughts on the feedback.

During the interview, Dr. Badu emphasized the spiritual nature of money, stating, “Money is a spirit; whoever calls it gets it.” He clarified that his intention with the song was not to promise instant wealth to unbelievers but to remind listeners of the spiritual aspect of financial blessings. He said, “I did not write that song to make unbelievers suddenly become wealthy.”

Dr. Badu also addressed the concern from critics, many of whom are fellow believers, by raising a thought-provoking question: “Have you ever seen pastors fighting over money?” He highlighted that many people, particularly Christians, struggle with financial issues because they do not actively call money into their lives. According to him, this is why some individuals can be holy and sanctified but still face financial challenges.

Referring to Proverbs 10:22, which says, “The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it,” Dr. Badu stressed that financial freedom is indeed a part of God’s blessings. He revealed that many people rush to sow seeds when been requested to sow a seed for financial blessings.

In his final remarks, Dr. Badu encouraged everyone to declare financial blessings daily, recognizing it as a part of God’s plan for prosperity. He reminded listeners that calling on money is a form of inviting God’s blessings into all areas of their lives.

Dr. Sonnie Badu’s words challenge the traditional thinking of many believers who may see financial blessings as separate from their faith. His emphasis on the spiritual nature of money encourages a mindset shift, urging believers to embrace the idea that financial prosperity is part of God’s blessings. By speaking up, he hopes to reshape the narrative around wealth and faith, especially within the church community.
